Welcome to the Entertainment Maven

This is the inaugural post for what I hope will be a helpful blog for readers and an interesting blog for me to write.

I came up with the idea when I realized that I am well on my way to being thirty years old and I still haven’t discovered exactly what I would like to do with my life. The sensible thing would be to look at my talents and choose a job that takes the greatest advantage of them, but what are my talents? The answer is rather elusive at the moment, maybe I’ll find out later in life.

However, in the absence of talent I have managed to acquire quite a large amount of knowledge. Most of it dealing with entertainment/leisure pursuits, such as reading books, watching movies, playing video games, eating good food and drinking good beer and wine. During the years I have found a lot of ‘hidden gems’ in each of these areas and I figure it’s time to share some of these recommendations.

Now I should mention that if you are a movie buff or an avid reader, my recommendations may seem more like obvious choices rather than hidden gems, however, my guess is that there are many people that will have not seen or read a particular movie or book I recommend.

What I am trying to do is save you time by pointing you right to the good stuff. Let me wade through the crap while you reap the benefits!

Initially, my posts will centre on older material that I have discovered years ago, but as the blog continues I hope to start covering more recent material.

Your taste is not something to take lightly. Too often we settle for mediocrity, simply because we don’t know where to find something exceptional.

I’m here to change that.
